So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
Seems to have overtaken Burke and Oxford.

Knowing Bilic he will probably send him,Burke,Holland & Martinez out on loan to div 1.

Rice looks pretty decent along with Holland...hope we keep them around the first team this season and Martinez

They're just assets for the club to make a few quid on. There is little intention or reason to get them in the side. Get over it noncey anoraks.

Re: So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
These players have developed well in the u-23s under Westley, but unfortunately Mr Bilic has up to recently shown very little inclination of how to encourage or coach young players in the ways of the first team squad.
Look at what happened last season when Calleri kept Fletcher out of the team week after week.
I hope I'm wrong, but these players are all likely to go out on loan so players like Fonte, and Snodgrass have little competition.

Re: So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
I'm a bit tired of the continued Calleri over Fletcher whining. Calleri was terrible but still a country miles better than the clueless flabby Fletcher. Absolutely streets ahead. Can't believe someone paid actual money for him.

From what I've seen of Rice, he looks like a potentially good midfielder

Burke has outshone Collins in the games so far.

Re: So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
Rice is playing himself into contention as a decent DM. Burke has also looked solid enough at CB, I'd be happy for Collins to move on this summer so to allow Burke, and maybe Rice, to get some game time.

If we are going to get rid of a CB it has to be Fonte

I really hope that these youngsters aren't sent out on loan this year and given a chance in the first team squad.

Other clubs have succeeded in bringing on their youngsters and it would be great to have a core of the team going forward that has come through the youth set up.

Just imagine a core of Burke, Oxford, Rice, Holland, Cullen and Martinez in the next 2-3 years, gradually introduced from this season.

From what I've seen and heard they all have the potential to make it to PL level and I would like to think that is the clubs aim.

West Ham owner & "fan" David Gold says he never saw a 20 year old Rio Ferdinand play.
Supporting someone else that year or just has no interest in football teams that aren't making him money?

Oh and if Oxord can hold down a spot in that BMG team then he's clearly our best young centre back.

Re: So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
After last season Billic's job is on the line (yes, even before a ball is kicked), he will not risk blooding them in this season unless we get off to an absolute flyer or be in a position where the R word is not discussed going into the Xmas period.

Re: So is Rice our best young Centre Back now?
I'm sure Rice played at DM in the recent games, not CB.

Very impressive in the PSFs. I do love a defender who is confident enough to bring the ball out.

You're getting a bit confused there mate.
We have REECE Burke and REECE Oxford. We also have Declan RICE.

I guess you don't follow the team too much.
